Not every centre runs Holiday Quest. This term it runs at the 7 schools above. If your school isn't listed, you're very welcome to book your child in at a participating centre — plenty of families do. Ask us which centre suits you.

Why Holiday Quest

The same faith-aligned care your family already trusts.

On familiar ground

Runs at selected Amana centres inside Islamic schools — the spaces, educators and faces your child already knows.

Faith woven through

Halal food, prayer space and educators who understand your family's values — holidays included.

Open to ages 5–12 years

Siblings and children from neighbouring schools are welcome. Your existing enrolment covers Vacation Care — just book days.

“My daughter loves the variety of programs, from arts and crafts to outdoor play. She asks to go every day.”
— Mariam S, parent at Al-Taqwa College

Pricing

Priced per day, so you only pay for the days you pick.

Every day is priced on what's actually happening — an off-site excursion costs more than a day at the centre. Across the fortnight days run $90–$125 before the Child Care Subsidy.

The Child Care Subsidy applies to Holiday Quest — it covers up to 90% of the day rate, so a family on the maximum rate pays from $9 a day ($9–$12.50 depending on the day). Your rate depends on your family income — most land somewhere between that and about $30.

That covers eleven fully-programmed hours — drop-off before work to pickup after, with meals, activities and educators included.

What time does it run?

Doors open 7:00am – 6:00pm every Quest day, so you can drop off before work and collect after.

Questions parents ask

The things worth knowing.

How do you keep track of everyone on an excursion day?

Under the National Regulations, no approved service can run an excursion without a written risk assessment done first — it must consider the route and destination, the transport there and back, any water hazards, and whether the usual educator-to-child ratio is enough for that specific outing, adding educators if not. You give written authorisation before your child attends, stating where they're going and how they'll get there. A first-aid-qualified educator and a first aid kit travel with the group, headcounts run at every transition, and our base ratio is 1:12 — better than the 1:15 the government mandates.

What does my child need to bring?

A broad-brimmed hat, a water bottle, and a full lunch box with healthy food for morning tea and lunch — we're a nut-free service, so absolutely no nuts. Dress your child in clothes that cover their shoulders and enclosed shoes (no sandals or thongs), pack spare clothes, and label everything. We provide sunscreen, though you're welcome to send your own brand if your child has sensitive skin.

How do drop-off and pick-up work?

Doors open 7:00am – 6:00pm every Quest day — drop off and pick up any time in between. Late pick-up after 6:00pm is $20 per 15 minutes, per child. Bring photo ID at collection: any educator who doesn't know you by sight will ask for it before your child leaves — that's deliberate, not red tape.

Can I book just one day, or do I have to take the block?

One day is fine. Pick whichever days suit you — a single Friday excursion, three days, or the whole fortnight. You only pay for the days you book.

What if my child has allergies, asthma or needs medication?

Children with asthma, anaphylaxis or another medical condition attend with a medical management plan from your doctor, and we prepare a risk minimisation plan with you — if your child already attends Amana in term time, their plans carry over. Medication is only ever given with your written authorisation, from its original container with the pharmacy label, and every dose is recorded and witnessed by a second educator. The one exception the law makes is an asthma or anaphylaxis emergency, where educators act first and contact you and emergency services straight away.

What if my child doesn't know anyone?

Most Quest days mix children from the school and from neighbouring schools, and the educators are the same familiar faces from term care. Days are built around team activities for exactly this reason — nobody is left to find their own way in.

Can I cancel or change a booked day?

No — Holiday Quest bookings are final. Educators, food, incursion providers and excursion places are locked in ahead of the holidays based on the days families book, so we can't accept cancellations or offer refunds for missed days. Please pick your days with that in mind, and if something serious comes up, call us on 1300 200 262 and we'll talk it through. And if your child will be absent on a booked day, please still tell us — call, or mark them absent in the OWNA app — so we can plan the day for everyone else.

Is it the same environment as term care?

Yes — a dedicated prayer space, the same Islamic values, and educators who already know your family, at the same centres inside the same schools. One difference from term care: on Quest days children bring their own morning tea and lunch.

My child has additional needs — can they come?

Yes, and we would rather talk it through properly than have you wonder. Call us before you book and we will go through what your child needs and how the days are structured.
